Regime forfettario or regime ordinario: which is better?

A guided five-step process which compares, on the same revenues and the same actual costs, the tax and social security burden of the regime forfettario (the Italian flat-rate scheme) and that of the regime ordinario (the standard regime). The comparison takes account of what almost no simulator considers: the different social security contribution base, the reduction in contributions reserved to the forfettario, non-deductible IVA on purchases, and the personal tax credits that under the forfettario are lost for want of taxable capacity. Your data stays on your device: nothing is transmitted to our servers.

Simplified estimate for comparison purposes. This tool serves to show the order of magnitude of the gap between the two regimes and which factors drive it. It is not a tax-return computation: unlike the regime forfettario calculator, which is aligned with quadro LM of the Modello Redditi PF (the Italian personal income tax return), here some variables are simplified and others are not modelled. The full list of what is left out is at the foot of the results.

Your activity

Two figures only: how much you expect to invoice, and which coefficiente di redditività (profitability coefficient) your codice ATECO falls under. The coefficient is used by the forfettario branch; the ordinario branch will instead use the actual costs you enter at the next step.

The coefficients are those set out in allegato n. 4 alla L. 190/2014 (schedule 4 to that Act), referred to in art. 1, comma 64.

The contents and the calculations on this page are for information only and do not constitute a professional opinion or advice on an individual case. The choice of tax regime depends on factors an automated tool cannot know and produces effects over several years: before deciding, consult your own dottore commercialista (Italian chartered accountant). The firm accepts no responsibility for decisions taken on the basis of these estimates alone. Law as at 20 August 2026.
